What we do

The IFWC is the brainchild of the Philippine-based national fisher folk alliance Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya-National Federation of Small Fisherfolk Organizations in the Philippines) and the People’s Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS)— a global assembly of grassroots organizations and advocates resisting the attacks of neo-liberal policies on the land, food and job rights of the small food producers through the promotion of food sovereignty as a platform for advocacy, campaign and movement building.

We propagate, promote and advance the issues and struggles of the small-scale fisheries sector for social justice and emancipation through active social movements and people’s resistance against the global regime of neoliberal globalization.

IFWC focus primarily on the need to strengthen and uphold the human and community rights of the small-scale fisher folk and the primacy building of global assembly organizations and their movements to counter the perpetual and increasing neoliberal globalization that violate their rights.
